When Quality Just Matters
We thought we'd bring out this shavers best trait first. What makes this Braun Electric Trimmer so great is its level of overall quality. I'm sure you have heard the phrase "you get what you pay for" and that phrase applies to electric trimmers.
You could save money and buy a shaver that isn't going to last as long but you're not because that's probably why you're here. You've been stumped before from buying a lower quality shaver. The low end shavers tend to always break down right after the warranty period.
You'll have piece of mind with the Braun Series 9 9290cc because it's not going to break down like other shavers. If you take care of this shaver properly it's going to last you a many of years. That's what we love most about the Braun Series 9.
When to Use Foil Shavers
The Braun Series 9 9290cc is a top of the line foil shaver but why not use a rotary shaver? If you're experienced on electric shavers you already know why but for everyone else here's why.
Rotary shavers are better for men with very thick and curly facial hair. Typically better for black males since that is their common hair growth pattern. However, you can still get away with using a foil shaver.
If you have very thick and curly hair and want to use a foil shaver you'll need to shave more often. You'll want to keep the facial hair low at all times. Once you let it grow for a couple of days the thick and curly hair is harder to shave with a foil shaver and at that point a rotary shaver would be more beneficial.
If you've got average facial hair and it isn't super curly or very thick you'll be just fine with a foil shaver. In fact the largest percent of men are good to go with a foil shaver.
You probably already know this but just keep in mind electric shavers aren't going to give you the same shave as a razor blade. We still see complaints time to time from people upset about this but these trimmers just are not designed for that.
You can get a very close shave but there's still going to be a slight roughness left over. The benefit to this though is you're much less likely to experience ingrown hairs, razor rash, and other issues that are the result of shaving to close.

Key Traits of the Series 9
One of the key traits of this shaver which make it stand out is how close of a shave you get while remaining very comfortable. The Braun Series 9 9290cc had a long testing phase on men with 3 day beards.
The shaver cuts more hair in a single stroke. It's designed to catch flat lying hairs and hairs growing in different directions which is a challenge for other shavers. The series 9 does a good job of picking up the hairs these others shavers leave behind.
With a more efficient shave you require less passes over the skin. This results in better skin comfort and less irritation from shaving. You'll hardly require a second pass over the same area.
When we said these were quality shavers we meant it. The Braun Series 9 9290cc is built in Germany and these premium shavers are built to last a minimum of 7 years!
The Mechanical Features
The above 8 mechanical aspects of the Braun Series 9 9290cc were provided from the manufacturer. We're going to break down these mechanical aspects so you know which ones really matter, what they really do, and if it's a good feature or worthless one.
5 Shaving Elements - The different shaving elements on the head of the razor is a great feature. This allows the shaver to capture hairs going in different directions and the ones lying flat.
Without this the shaver would not be worth buying. The unique head on the series 9 has additional elements compared to previous models.
Titanium Coating - Now this is just a coating so there's nothing to get to excited about but it does serve a purpose. Titanium is very durable and highly resistant to corrosion. This helps the Series 9 last much longer and it doesn't look half bad either.
SyncroSonic - This is patented technology by Braun. It supposedly is able to automatically adapt to your beard and provide more power where it's needed. It's hard to say if this feature actually works or is noticeable but they have a patent on it so they put it as a mechanical perk.
10-D Contouring - Most electric shavers now a days have a contouring feature. So it's no surprise that the Braun Series 9 9290cc will have it as well. What we do like is that the contouring is a little different on this shaver.
Not only is the entire head capable of contouring but the shaving elements in the head are able to contour as well. This adds a lot of power to its ability to capture those tough hairs. Making it more reliable as a single pass trimmer.
Cleaning Station - This is one of the things that makes Braun shavers so great. The ones that come with a cleaning station just make life a lot easier. These alcohol based cleaning stations remove shaved stubble and clean the trimmer hygienically.
Additionally, it's lubricating and charging your shaver so it's ready to go on next use. This really takes the work out of shaving and is an easy drop in and done feature.
Wet or Dry Shave - You can absolutely wet shave with this shaver. You can use it in the shower, with shaving cream, and get an alright shave. However, we don't personally recommend using it to wet shave.
You'll get a much better experience dry shaving with this shaver. If you need to use something because you have sensitive skin we recommend giving pre-electric shave a try.
100% Waterproof - Being a waterproof shaver is nice. It allows you to rinse the shaver under water without worry about breaking it. You can jump in the shower and shave as well. This shaver is waterproof for up to 5 meters.
Cordless Shaving - This shaver is equipped with a high quality battery that doesn't lose performance over time. It only takes one hour to fully charge and the LED display on the shaver counts down the remaining minutes of shave time.
The Main Con to Braun Series 9
Through all of our research the biggest downside to the Braun Series 9 has been the replacement heads. Some people have experienced the need to replace the head after about one year of use. However, this is not a very common experience.
For those unfortunate enough to experience this they have found the replacement heads to be hard to come by. Since then it does seem Amazon has started carrying some of the replacement heads.
Most people never experience the issue with the head but we feel it's something that should be known before making your purchase.
