How to manscape without cutting yourself? For many men the thought of dragging a sharp blade over their balls is enough to make them cringe. You want to shave your balls, really you do, but you’re afraid of cutting yourself. While that’s a risk you, oh adventurous manscaper, must be willing to take, you’ll find that with a little practice you can quickly learn how to manscape without cutting yourself.
Manscaping, whether above or below the belt, is all about knowing what you’re doing. When you get down to it, the risk of cutting yourself while manscaping is really no different than the risk of cutting yourself anywhere else you shave. If you’re still wary, relax, we’ve got you covered.
The Steps to Manscaping Success
Start with a trim.
Trying to use a razor to shave your manly bush is about as effective as trying to use a razor to shave a lion’s mane and just about as dangerous. Use a pair of scissors and trim your area as close to the skin as possible. The shorter the hair, the easier it will be to shave and the less likelihood of cutting.
Select the right razor.
Any razor can get the job done but there are a number of quality blades on the market that will make the job easier. The Gillette Body Disposable Razor was designed specifically for the job of manscaping and offers three lubricating strips and an anti-slip handle which works well in the shower. For working below the belt it’s about as good as it gets.
Jump in the shower: Warm
Does it really have to be said that you’re going to do this in the shower? Okay, we’ll say it, do it in the shower. The hot water and steam will open up your pores which decreases the chances of cutting yourself immeasurably.
Forget the shaving cream.
You can use shaving cream or gel if you really want, however you’ll find the shower will wash it away pretty quickly. The slipperiness of gel can also make it hard to hold on to the important bits while thick shaving cream will make it hard to see where you’re shaving. Holding on and seeing where you’re cutting are two fairly important things right about now.
Your best bet is going to be a good hand soap. It’s my go to option every single time. I consider it a key to learning how to manscape without cutting yourself.
Shaving the shaft.
Stretch out your penis so that the skin of the shaft is relatively tight and wrinkle free. This is the easiest part. Use your razor and slowly work your way around, working your razor toward you and keeping with the grain of the hair.
The Main Event.
Your goal when shaving your testicles is to try to get them as flat and even as possible to avoid cutting yourself. Stretch your scrotum thin and flat, pulling it up if that helps and shave from your taint outward. Use long, calculated strokes in the beginning until you get a feel for what you’re doing.

Soothing Relief: Aloe
Even if you exercise extreme caution you may still cause a scrape or two here and there, especially when you’re first starting out. Choose a gentle aftershave moisturizer with aloe over a harsh, stinging cologne. The moisturizer will provide a soothing sensation for your freshly shaved potato sack and also help alleviate any minor irritation or cuts.
Investing in Quality Products
For trimming, shaping, or even doing the whole enchilada, a body groomer may be the way to go if you’re serious about manscaping below the belt and elsewhere. Both the Philips Norelco Bodygroom Series 7100 and the Gillette Fusion Proglide Styler were designed with trimming downstairs in mind. Either body groomer can be used in the shower and both were designed to cut down on cutting you up.
The same goes for your razor blade. If you think shaving your face with a dull, old blade is bad enough, try shaving your balls with one. Do not multi-task with your manscaping tools. Invest in a quality blade to use for the job and don’t use it for anything else.
Wrapping it Up
